Angry Birds: Bird Island (also known as "Project Espoo" or “Mayhem Simulator”) is an official roleplay experience on Roblox which had it's Closed Beta for members of the group called Metaverse Team - RP started in early December 2021 from December 9 till December 15th. The game came out of closed beta on December 16, 2021.
History
On May 26, 2021, Roblox appeared to be removing many of the unofficial Angry Birds games on the platform via DMCA takedowns filed by Rovio Entertainment. Many fans did not know what was occurring during this time, so groups formed to commemorate the deleted games like one called, "Angry Birds Memorial" by @AngryBirds_RBLX. Even though many of the older games got content deleted, newer games with the Angry Birds theming are still on the platform to this day.

On December 13, 2021, the official Angry Birds Twitter tweeted a picture of a Red bird Roblox character made out of cardboard boxes in the Rovio lobby in Espoo, Finland with the caption "this is a teaser". Then around an hour later, the account tweeted: "how do u log in to roblox ?" Then, on December 16, the Angry Birds Twitter officially posted their announcement with a teaser trailer.
On April 27, 2022, the game got renamed to "Angry Birds: Mayhem Simulator", with its genre of game being changed from "Roleplay" to "Fighting". Many fans were upset and angry at the Metaverse and Rovio Studios for implementing (in their words) "A downgraded game" into the application. The game under this update struggles to gain over 100 active users, which is less that the traffic the game originally got with its "roleplay" and story-line aesthetic.
On June 27, 2022, the game was rebranded back to "Bird Island" with its past revisions being accessible through portals. This is most likely due to its <70 player count after the game was changed originally. It is unclear whether or not Rovio or Metaverse Teams made this decision.

Build your hatchling army and start flinging in this new destructive experience!

Gameplay
Bird Island
In Angry Birds: Bird Island, the player is greeted by Red, who would tell them to meet up with Chuck. Chuck would show the player around the island and introduced them to Bomb. Bomb would tell the player information about their hatchling. Then Silver showed the player how to apply for jobs around the island to get hourly paychecks. The player can switch from humanoid and bird form whenever they would like in the game. The player can also take jobs around Bird Island, such as professor and a shop keeper. The player can also drive cars and rent houses. The player must also take care of their hatchling by feeding it food such as apples and beverages such as water.
Mayhem Simulator
In the Angry Birds: Mayhem Simulator sub-experience, the original map is completely removed in favor of a "clicker/grind"-style of gameplay. The player needs to tap on nearby structures to throw their hatchling at them. The more structures the player breaks down, the more gems and coins they'll get. There are also options to buy more hatchlings through an egg gambling system with % amounts of chance for a certain hatchling. The player will commence to the next stage by acquiring enough Mighty Eagle coins to break down the transparent stone wall.
In recent updates for this version, a cart slingshot that was previously used in Bird Island was re-implemented to the game (with a "Fire" button that automatically locks onto structures) and the ability to go into first person was disabled. The Hatchling "Ultimate" ability was also changed meaning instead of it launching the player's full flock at once, it loops the launch for 5 seconds and auto locks to nearby structures. A new "Daily Reward" system was also implemented so users can get rewards for logging on during a 6-day period. The progression of the game was also changed, instead now requiring a certain amount of Hatchlings instead of Mighty Eagle Coins to break down level walls.

Destruction Simulator
In the Angry Birds: Destruction Simulator sub-experience, it features structures which the player needs to destroy with their hatchlings, but the slingshot is stationary.

Locations in the rebranding can be unlocked with specific requirements, and are known as worlds. For example, the 3rd world can be unlocked by unlocking 6 hatchlings. The more worlds you progress, the harder it is for your hatchlings to take down constructions.

Trivia
- On December 20, 2021, Red officially went to different servers interacting with fans for a special "Meet & Greet" that lasted for around 1 hour.
- During the release of Angry Birds Journey, the developers implemented a moveable Slingshot that can be spawned from anywhere except in indoor areas.[2]

- On March 1, 2022, the game was unknowingly content deleted by Roblox. However, this was fixed a day later.
