Angry Birds: Summer Madness (originally called "Angry Birds Summer Camp Madness")[4] is an Angry Birds spin-off series that released on Netflix on January 28, 2022. A second season has been confirmed for the series,[5] and was released on June 24, 2022.[6] A third season was released on August 25, 2022.[7]

Plot

The series features Red, Chuck, Bomb, and Stella at Camp Splinterwood, with their counselor being Mighty Eagle. The pigs also appear in this series, as rival campers. The series focuses on the teenage versions of the characters. Stella and Neiderflyer have been in a feud since kindergarten and each friend group must outdo each other in the camp's activities such as water sliding, basketball, paintball, dodgeball, and more. In their journey, Red, Chuck, Bomb, and Stella run into the Pig side of the camp.

Trivia

  • The series is similar to Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years released in 2021. Both shows revolve around younger versions of the titular protagonist going to summer camp with his friends.
  • The movie is similar to Camp Rock 1 and 2 released in 2008 and 2010. Both Disney Channel Original Movie revolve around bands versions of the titular protagonist with The Jonas Brothers.
  • The art style was originally supposed to be 3D, as indicated from the first two pictures of the series. However, the art style has changed to 2D animation for unknown reasons, presumably budgeting reasons.
  • There will be merchandise releasing with the series in early 2022.
  • This is the first long-form Angry Birds TV series.
  • This is the third Angry Birds TV series to have English voice acting. (with the first being Angry Birds BirLd Cup and the second being Angry Birds on The Run)
  • Ironically enough the series premiered on January rather than summer, even though it's about a summer camp. (However, it was summer in the Southern Hemisphere at the time of its initial airing.) However, that was fixed during the second and third-season premieres.
  • Unlike the movie duology, which was recorded in the United States, this show is instead recorded in Vancouver, Canada.
  • Although news articles stated that the series will have 40 episodes[16] it actually only has 16 episodes for its first and second seasons and 4 episodes for season 3.
    • However, this is more or less a business practice that Netflix does, where they split a show up into multiple seasons to make it last longer.
    • The first two seasons has episodes have 11 minute episodes, but the remaining 8 episodes were combined to make four 22 minute specials to coincide with each holiday.
  • Most of the characters in the series were featured in an official Minecraft skin pack for the Minecraft DLC expansion pack.[17]
  • There are Finnish audio books about the series that released in 2023.[18]
