Non-animated character images[]
During the game's first release, the animated images of Red, Chuck, and Bomb were static images (Red pointing up, Bomb crying, Chuck at objective sign). The only animated images were of Red when you completed a level in which he would grab for a star and stand on a cloud before jumping on the popup sign, but didn't include Chuck or Bomb. Later when the game got a more international release, they were replaced with the animated characters we know of now.
Profile Banner[]
In the testing state of the game, there was a red profile banner that held the information of your avatar, username, and level. This was removed for the international release that combined the heart counter, coin counter, avatar, level, and settings icon to the top of the UI.

Pose used when standing on a level point
When Red would move onto a platform to indicate that you are advancing to a new level, he would take a nap on the point until you passed the level. Now he just stands on it. Also, when you complete the 10 levels in the set (when you get the common crate), Red used to jump up and down twice, but that has changed to him jumping up in a starfish pose. In 2022 versions of the game, the animation is removed with a transition to the story mode map replacing the animation. It is possible to cancel the transition, which would show the Red sprite respawning back to the start of the progression meter without an animation.
No In App-Purchases or ADs[]
When the game first released in the UK and America in late 2018, there weren't any in-app purchases or ads in the game, so the only way to gain power ups and coins were to acquire chests. This however changed with its worldwide release in early 2019.
Username Mixer[]
In the early version of the game, you could only set your username to the pre-made ones the game had to offer (Ex: Names with "Angry", "Egg", "Cloudy", "Moon", "Shiny", "Star", "Dream", "Wonder", "Joyful", "Blastonaut", "Fantastic", "Seed", "Hazy", "Dreamer", "Ball", "Visionary"). This option is still in the game however, but it's not enforced due to the new option of typing your own username.
Event tokens in levels[]
Before the "Fun in The Sun" event in June 2022, event tokens were collectable when playing the level instead of being earned after completing the level.
