Angry Birds Land was a theme park section in Särkänniemi Adventure Park in Tampere, Finland which opened on April 28, 2012.[1] The park had been in operation for 11 years with attractions such as a drop tower, play center and carnival games.
History[]
In March 2012, Rovio announced plans for an official Angry Birds land. It is known as the first Angry Birds Land in the world, 1 year before Angry Birds Activity Park in Lightwater Valley. The park officially opened to the public on April 28, 2012.[2] An official grand opening celebration was held 1 month after the park opened on June 8, 2012.[3]
On April 6, 2023, the Angry Birds section was permanently closed due to the park license expiring in late 2022 and to start construction on a new theme.[4] The new land will be themed around the park's mascot, "Pouta Possu" (Kärsänniemi) and include a shop, a police station, a hotel and a playground and is set to open on April 29, 2023.[5]

Trivia[]
- There were plans of making an Angry Birds Land in China in the Sino-Finnish Center at Tongji University in Shanghai, which was financed by the Finnish government of Espoo.[6][7]
- The park is featured in the book, Guinness World Records 2015 Gamer's Edition for being the first theme park based on a mobile puzzle game (pages 138–139).[8]
