Throughout the entire run of the Angry Birds franchise, there have been many examples of popular culture references.
It has also been popular to create fan content like mods and shows based off the brand, most of which can be found on the Angry Birds Fanon Wiki. Other times, Angry Birds is referenced as internet phenomena through either memes and parodies or through various games and YouTube videos.
Memes[]
Angry Birds jumpscare[]
The original video is from a Russia 2 TV news story from February 2011, which featured a rather unnerving Red flying towards the screen.[1]
In 2021, the beginning of the story was used in a caption meme with the text, “angry birds jumpscare” and the start of the song “In Da Club” by 50 Cent. A scream was also added when Red gets close enough to the camera, which turns out to be a sped up version of the scream from the “oh these are pretty cool bananas” meme.
The meme would be seen again in 2022 with the title changed to “angry birds jumpscare 2” and the video changed to a scene from First Person Flinger. The scream also changed.
Angry Birds recreating the September 11th attacks[]
Since the game became mainstream, there are memes featuring the birds recreating the tragic events on September 11, 2001. Among these include a video of a scene from the first film where Bomb flies towards Leonard's castle but replaces the shot of the castle with a shot of a model of the twin towers zooming in.
Angry Birds Runkkaus[]
On January 19, 2014, an image would be taken by Pekka Hirvasoja which would showed an Angry Birds sign with the words "Angry Birds runkkaus".[2] The image was also allegedly circulating on Facebook before August 2013.[3][4] On May 2, 2021, the image was uploaded to the r/onejob subreddit by vilhoh7 and explained "This sign has a typo (its in finnish) it was meant to say angry birds corner (angry birds nurkkaus) but instead it says angry birds masturbation (angry birds runkkaus)".[5] This sign would be used in different memes and shitposts,[6] with some having over 200,000 views.[7] and 120,000 likes in 2024.[8]
Angry Meme Birds[]
On February 23, 2013, a parody image of the characters in the style of a rage comic was posted on DeviantArt by DarkEnergon.[9] These images would be used in various Angry Birds-themed Discord servers as emojis and would be officially recognized in the Pranking Pigs Tournament.
Alex Bird[]
The original Alex Bird was made in 2014 by AlexR2012 on DeviantArt.[10] In 2019, the design sheet would be posted to the r/okbuddyretard Reddit.[11] In the video version of the meme, the song “Diamonds” by Rihanna is used while a slideshow presentation about Alex Bird is shown, begging Rovio to add him to Angry Birds 2.
Ancient pig sculpture[]
In August 2020, archeologists were digging in the Lianhe Ruins located in the Sichuan provenance of China.[12] When digging, they discovered a small 3,000 year old clay sculpture that has a close resemblance to a Minion Pig.[13] The item is now on display at the Sanxingdui Museum.[14]
In September 2024, the image would be reposted on Reddit and receive over 30,000 upvotes.[15]
Anti-piracy Screen[]
This fake Anti-piracy method was created by Angry Birds Zone. Anti-piracy screens show up when the player plays an unauthorized version of the game. In Angry Birds’ case, the effects of piracy result in the Egg completely fried in the pigs’ pan in the Poached Eggs cutscene. Adding up onto that, instead of the Level Cleared/Level Failed screen, it shows an image of a defeated Minion Pig accompanied by a demonic laugh. The game starts crashing and the pig's eyelids get darker in color, with his nose beginning to bleed before the screen cuts to pitch black for a second, followed by the anti-piracy message popping up, showing an unamused Red and some text saying that pirating games is just as bad as stealing the eggs, followed by a link and button to get the game legally.
Bomb vs India[]
Bomb vs India refers to a promotional video released by Sony Pictures India in 2019 to promote The Angry Birds Movie 2. In the video, Bomb (portrayed by a costumed actor) struggles to fit into society, such as being banned by airport security and failing to get a date. Due to the video's unusually low-quality editing and questionable title, it has been used in shitposts, especially the title unintentionally implying Bomb is out to destroy India.
Chet[]
Rico Chet Brown, (Also known as Chet or Brown Bird) is a fanmade brown bird created in 2012. Teaser images were made of this bird, which made some people believe he was being added to the game rather than Bubbles.[16]

Eggs VS Sausages[]
In an Angry Birds 2 advertisement discovered on June 2, 2021, the birds and pigs are having a barbecue that is separated by a picket fence. The pigs start grilling eggs, which causes the birds to be shocked. When the birds start grilling sausages, they both fight and the screen cuts to the birds laying on the ground full of sausages.
This video resurfaced in 2022 due to the strange and dark nature of the advertisement and the video being pared with a cover of the song “ROCKING A CARDIGAN IN ATLANTA” by lil Shordie Scott.
GASP[]
In January 2022, a scene from the Angry Birds Comics Quarterly, Vol 2 story "Red Hood", would be used for satirical purposes involving Freddy Fazbear.[17] In this meme, instead of gasping at the disbelief that the birds are no longer in their prison cell, Foreman Pig is surprised that he sees Freddy. This meme would later be used as a reaction image in late 2023.[18][19]
Gry[]
During the start of the Rovio Gaming Discord server, a server emoji called “:gry:” would be spammed in the server. This was the second part of a larger emoji that would form the word “Angry Birds”.[20] This caused a dedicated channel called "#gry-away" to be created solely for the posting of the emoji.
Both the emoji and channel were later deleted in April 2022 due to the gry spam carrying over into other channels.[21]
I'm the biggest bird[]
In late 2022, the song "Da biggest bird🦤🦩🦚🦅🕊[EZZIEWTF]" by ✞SAINT MERCATØR⚜️✨🕊 was trending across social media.[22] In some of those memes, either Terence (most of the time), Red (very rarely), Bomb (rarely), Mighty Eagle (a bit more often than Bomb) or Bubbles (very rarely) was featured.[23][24] One of the uploads that includes references to Angry Birds currently has over 3 million views.[25]
On February 14, 2024, the Angry Birds YouTube channel would post a video that would semi-acknowledge the meme.[26]
If I roll a twelve[]
In the cinematic trailer for Angry Birds Dice, there's a scene where Red is rolling two red dice in order to get a twelve to win the game. In late 2022 and early 2023, this scene was used in GIFs with varying captions to explain a broader story behind the scene, which usually involved suicide or to state an opinion.[27]

I tickled my pickle[]
On June 10, 2022, a copypasta would be uploaded to the copypasta database that included the original poster's (OP's) sexual desires with Angry Birds as a teenager.[37] Exactly a month later, a Reddit user would post this copypasta to the r/copypasta subreddit and it would receive over 300 upvotes.[38] On December 14, 2023, a TikTok video with over 117,000 views would be uploaded where a text to speech voice would recite an altered version of this copypasta.[39]
In early 2024, it is common to see the copypasta in the reply section of Angry Birds-related social media posts.[40][41] This meme would later be coined as the “angry birds guy” in replies mentioning the meme.[42] On May 18, the Angry Birds Twitter account would retweet a post with the copypasta.[43] This tweet would be reposted for a day until the account was blocked[44] and a public apology was made.[45]

The bird also made a cameo appearance in Talking Red as one of the "unlockable" birds.

Realistic Angry Birds[]
- Main article: Sam Spratt
In early 2012, Sam Spratt drew an image called "Pig in the woods", which included a realistic Foreman Pig.[51] When Rovio saw his work in 2012, they commissioned more of those pictures to be created.[52] In 2021, these images would be resurfaced and used in ironic image macros under the name "RTX Angry Birds".[53]
