The Bamboo Forest is a location that appears in Angry Birds 2. It serves as the first of three locations in the World Map, though it can also appear in other modes.
Description[]
Bamboo Forest is a forest that is located on Piggy Island. Waterfalls may form on the elevated pieces of land. Bamboo Forest is not a particularly dense forest, but it does have some interesting plant life. Bamboo plants sprout here, which can grow up to immense heights. The largest plants have such thick and sturdy stems that whole structures can be built on top of them. This is exactly what the pigs often tend to do, building fortresses on top of prebuilt wooden scaffolding. Fireflies float around near the bottom of the scene.
A common occurrence in the Bamboo Forest, is a Bamboo Portal. These portals may be present on the very top of a bamboo stem, attached to the side of a bamboo stem, or both. Portals are mostly either purple, blue or orange. There are always two portals of the same color. When a bird, pig or object falls or flies into a portal, it will be teleported to the other portal of the same color. This often helps with getting the birds to get flung further in the level. It also helps with toppling fortresses, as (heavy) objects that come out of a portal can hit them and break some of their blocks.
Levels in Bamboo Forest take place during one of the following different settings:
- Rainy; The sky has a turquoise color and is full of rain.
- Twilight; The sun hangs very low in the sky. The sky is half light blue-purple and half coral orange. The low sun colors the vegetation and the rocks purple.
- Evening; The sky is a peach-orange, it is Golden Hour. The rocks and plants get an orange and golden tint.
- Bright Night; The sky has clear blue tints and a large moon is present behind the bamboo. The bamboo is softly lit by the moon.
- Dim Night; Instead of blue, the sky is now a very dark green and a soft pink. The moon is light purple.
- Thunderstorm; This setting is exclusive to Boss Battles. The sky is dark turquoise, filled with clouds and heavy rain. Frequent flashes of lighting happen, accompanied by loud booms of thunder.
Themes[]
Besides the regular Bamboo Forest scenery, two different themes can also appear.
Gravity[]
First appearing in Gravity Grove, this theme is almost exactly the same as the normal Bamboo Forest. The only main difference: the Gravity Platforms.
Grafity Platforms are big machines that are mounted to the thick bamboo. They appear as a long cylinder with a little pressure meter attached to it. A tube connects the cylinder to a wide, funnel shaped object with a grid on its widest surface. A bright green light comes from underneath the grid. The machine creates a large gravity field, that pulls all objects, birds and pigs towards the grid. Fortresses can be built in these gravity fields, meaning that these piggy buildings can now be upside down or sideways.
Levels in this theme take place during one of the following settings:
- Rainy
- Twilight
- Evening
- Bright Night
- Dim Night
- Thunderstorm
Halloween[]
In this spooky theme it is always night and everything is dark. Jack-o-lanterns appear everywhere, on top of bamboo plants and on the higher terrain of the forest. Cobwebs are spun between the bamboo. Bats fly around in the sky.
Bamboo Portals do not appear in Halloween themed levels. Instead, Snot Slides are present in almost every room. Snot Slides are long or short tracks, covered in a fast flowing green goo. Any bird, pig or object that ends up on top of this goo will flow along in the direction of the stream, until the track eventually ends or until it bulges in such a way that it basically works as a ramp. Birds will not become a corpse when they land on a Snot Slide and will be able to activate their ability for as long as they are on one. Matilda's eggs will not explode on a Snot Slide. Pigs that fall onto a Snot Slide will not pop, and objects will not break.
Levels in the Halloween theme take place during one of the following settings:
- Green
- Purple
- Orange
- Rainy
- Thunderstorm

Within the game, the Bamboo Forest has multiple names, some of which are named after tropical locations.
Trivia[]
- While Bamboo Portals are usually either purple, blue or orange, there are a few exceptions:
- When purple, blue and orange portals are all already present in a level, a possible fourth portal will be a solid white.
- In Level 1606, red portals appear.
- In Level 3413, golden yellow portals appear.
