The Mirror Worlds[notes 1] are a set of levels (like a game mode) in Angry Birds Space and Angry Birds Reloaded.

Set in another dimension, they were added to Space on January 21, 2015 (alongside Brass Hogs and the daily missions)[1], and consist of alternate versions of the main levels from Pig Bang to Brass Hogs.[2] These 260 mirror levels always have twists or differences from the level they are based on (being also more challenging); furthermore, they are flipped from left to right, have duller colors by default, and always feature Hektor Porko as an enemy.

On September 23, 2024, Angry Birds Reloaded began a reintroduction of Mirror Worlds, with some differences in how to unlock them, story, art, and some level design aspects; all mirror episodes from the original game are available, plus a mirror version of the first three new original episodes of Reloaded, and a repurposed Danger Zone.

Overview and how to unlock[]

Angry Birds Space[]

One of the first three daily missions in the game asks for unlocking the Mirror World. Level 9-2 of Brass Hogs contains the portal. Beating it for the first time plays a cutscene, after which the Mirror World is unlocked: the episode selection and (for supported episodes) the level selection screens will now have a portal button to freely switch between "normal" and mirror modes, with an animation.

Each of the 260 mirror levels is unlocked by three-starring their "normal world" counterpart. Before the game was delisted, one could also purchase immediate access to all mirror levels.[1] They work the same as the normal levels in regards of the scoring and starring logic, but the Space Eagle is unavailable. Powerups can be used on all mirror levels, even bosses. They are flipped from left to right, always feature Hektor Porko and, unless toggled in the main menu's settings, they visually have a dull analog TV filter.

Of the "normal world" levels, only the "main" levels of episodes from Pig Bang to Brass Hogs received mirror versions. Levels such as star and feather bonuses, eggsteroids or the Danger Zone episode[1], as well as the cutscenes, did not.

These levels are edited versions of the main ones, thus altering all strategies and scoring potential. All mirror levels were introduced in version 2.1.0 as part of a massive update, more than seven months after the previous content update, Beak Impact.[3][4]

When the Mirror World is selected, its theme always plays in the level/episode selections and the starting menus.

Angry Birds Reloaded[]

The player must obtain 200 stars in Angry Birds Reloaded's other Space levels, which then unlocks the Mirror Worlds with an animation before giving the option to enter them immediately or another time.

In the main Space episode selection, the Mirror Worlds are an episode of its own; clicking it plays a wormhole animation and takes the player to a Mirror Worlds episode selection, which includes all nine chapters from Angry Birds Space, and also mirrored versions of Reloaded's brand-new episodes Eggspansion Theory, Wingularity and Swine Wave, having Danger Zone as an ending too. This same menu has buttons to watch the Mirror Worlds opening cutscene, to a tutorial screen explaining what they are, and to toggle the TV filter visuals.

Mirror episodes are played from the first level to the last, like traditional episodes, as opposed to unlocking each level individually.

Besides the physics and score alterations, the mirror levels in Reloaded are mostly the same as they are in Angry Birds Space, though some have new differences, levels 14 and 27 of Cold Cuts being notable examples. Also, unlike in the original game, the Space Eagle can be used on them. The mirrored episodes were gradually ported from Angry Birds Space. Pig Bang debuted alone on September 23, 2024; subsequent chapters (the last one being Brass Hogs, on May 1, 2025) arrived in updates which also always included another episode to Secret Area or Space. Since mirrored Eggspansion Theory on June 27, 2025, mirror versions of Reloaded's own Space episodes have been similarly added, with the latest one as of now being Swine Wave (on October 30, 2025).

The menus in Mirror Worlds play a remix of Angry Birds Space's mirror theme, and the in-level ambient music consists of sinister versions of the normal episode's ambience, and the backgrounds are flipped (while the original game uses the same ambience tracks and backgrounds for both modes). On August 28, 2025, along with the release of Wingularity in the Mirror Worlds, a unique boss theme was added to every final level, replacing Beak Impact's boss theme from Danger Zone as well.

Danger Zone[]

The Danger Zone episode from Angry Birds Space (in such game, only present in the normal world) was brought back in Reloaded, repurposed as a Mirror Worlds exclusive. It is an ending to the Space campaign. Level 30 from the original game was replaced by a five-phases boss fight. The 29 previous levels are mostly unchanged from the original, but flipped, with Hektor Porko replacing a pig in each level, and with Atomic Bird now playable in some of them.

Story[]

Angry Birds Space[]

Level 9-2 of Brass Hogs has the Mirror World portal. After the level ends and the score/stars are shown, a cutscene always plays.

In the cutscene, during the events of Brass Hogs, after defeating some pigs, Red, Chuck and the Blues notice and enter the portal. They end up in a flipped and darkened dimension, then question the strange world they are in.

Angry Birds Reloaded[]

Hektor Porko's ship carrying the eggs is seen in the left, and the Space Flock is behind, at the lower-right corner, near the wormhole they passed. (This scene is flipped from when they hadn't entered it and were in the "normal" world

Part of Reloaded's Mirror Worlds cutscene, with Hektor and the Flock after going through the wormhole.

A wormhole opens up beside the Flock. They then notice Hektor Porko swooping into the wormhole with a net of eggsteroids and the Flock's eggs. They fly into the wormhole, only to be confused as they are seemingly in the same place, but flipped. Hektor laughs at the Flock as he flies further away into Pig Bang.

Danger Zone beginning cutscene[]

Using his superpowers to scan through the Mirror Worlds, Super Red notices Hektor Porko carrying the eggs to a giant naval mine in Danger Zone. The Space Flock gives chase.

Danger Zone ending cutscene[]

After defeating Hektor and Leonard's plans inside the giant naval mine, the flock retrieves the eggs and eggsteroids. The mine then explodes: the two villain pigs escape, as well as the birds with the eggs (while Ice Bird leaves, to retrieve the eggsteroids to their home).

Level design[]

Besides being flipped left-to-right and (unless turned off in settings) darkened, the Mirror Worlds levels are edited from their base levels, significantly altering how they're played.

In general, they are harder (or require more precise strategies) to get three stars, often with different score thresholds.

Like in most classic Angry Birds slingshot games, mirror levels are mostly designed to also allow for solutions that yield very high scores, higher than the basic three-star scores, such as hidden strategies with less birds.

They always have Hektor Porko as an enemy, and he is often located in a special-looking structure or position, for added character.

The mirror levels are faithful to the episodes they belong to, and do not break their themes. A good example of this is that, from Pig Bang to Cosmic Crystals, the rocky asteroids used are the round ones that debuted on Pig Bang, just like the original levels, never the asteroids from Beak Impact.

There are some frequent ways by which the base levels were mirrored, stated below. (In many cases, more than one way happened).

Adding new structures[]

Some mirror levels added completely new buildings (or also moving pigs in bubbles, or obstacle walls), not present in the original version. For example, level 2 of Pig Bang, or levels 1 and 10 of Pig Dipper.

Modifying previous structures[]

Some structures were more or less altered (possibly expanded or reduced), to change their role in gameplay. Examples are level 1 of Cold Cuts, level 16 of Brass Hogs, and level 20 of Eggspansion Theory.

Replacing previous structures[]

This case means that some structure from the base level gave place to something new and unrelated, of which the size and usage of general/specific elements vary between levels. See level 23 of Utopia, or level 24 of Red Planet.

Cloning previous structures[]

Consists of adding more copies of a feature that was present in the base level (in many cases, resembling mirror images of it). Two examples are level 3 of Pig Bang and level 2 of Cold Cuts.

Changing positions[]

This is when something in the original level was moved to a different position in the mirror version, as in level 16 of Pig Bang and 14 of Cold Cuts.

Changing the bird lineup[]

It's pretty common for a mirror level to have a different bird lineup from its base version. In some cases, this can be the major twist of the mirror level. Check levels 17 and 20 of Pig Bang.

Mirror levels only use birds that were involved in its base episode's story. So, those from Pig Bang never use Ice Bird or Atomic Bird (but they do feature The Incredible Terence, who was there in the original Pig Bang plot).

Simplification[]

Some mirror levels use minimalistic versions of the original level's design. Examples are level 12 of Pig Dipper and level 38 of Beak Impact.

Structures "under construction"[]

In this case, buildings from the original level (such as the lines of square blocks in level 13 of Utopia, or the crane in level 4 of Brass Hogs) are, in Mirror Worlds, shown as if they were broken or under construction.

Complexity[]

Many mirror levels have complex strategies or layout, show diverse elements or use several of the previously stated cases for mirroring. For example, levels 8 of Cosmic Crystals, 7 of Beak Impact, and 25 of Eggspansion Theory.

Boss levels[]

The main world's boss levels usually feature one enemy, with complex contraptions or gimmicks. Their Mirror Worlds versions are more basic: they tend to mainly use the terrain and planets from the original boss, but placing on them normal structures with common blocks. (In Reloaded, a unique boss theme plays in these levels whereas Space simply plays the regular boss theme, which is the only one in the game.)

Differences in Reloaded's ported levels[]

While most of Angry Birds Reloaded's levels that are ported from Classic, Seasons and Space have very high resemblance to their original version, the game has universal differences such as physics and bird abilities like Ice Bird and Super Red, affecting all scores and some level designs. In Mirror Worlds' case, levels vary from looking the same as in Angry Birds Space (see level M1-1), to having subtle deviations (such as M1-3), and to being drastically altered (like M2-14, which is a good example of intentional change). As for Reloaded's Danger Zone (ported from the original game's "normal worlds"), most levels are simply flipped and swap a pig for Hektor Porko, but some were more altered, such as having Atomic Bird in the bird lineup (for example, level 29); and level 30 from the original was replaced by a boss fight.

Trivia[]

  • Angry Birds Space's version 2.1.0 released the 260 mirror levels, plus the 30 main ones from Brass Hogs and the daily mission system, among other features (like Froot Loops Bloopers and Space Wingman). It can be considered as one of the largest updates in the classic slingshot games.[2]
  • A prototype of the same 2.1.0 update features an early iteration of the Mirror World. Most episodes from Pig Bang to Beak Impact part 2 have about every mirror level designed similarly to the final version (except the bosses), but Pig Dipper and Brass Hogs are mostly untouched; this beta version also fully supports Danger Zone in the Mirror World, albeit not yet designed. And the plot of the 9-2 cutscene is slightly different, showing Hektor Porko escaping to the mirror dimension.
  • Oddly, when beating level 9-2 of Brass Hogs in Angry Birds Space, the only option after the score tally page is to watch the aforementioned cutscene, with no button for retrying or going back to level selection. And this is the only way to watch the cutscene, as it is not in the level selection screen.
  • The dull TV filter was weaker in Angry Birds Reloaded, despite the App Store's images showing it in duller colors. This was fixed in V3.9 of the game.
