"Mr. Bomb-bastic" is a webcomic in the Angry Birds series, released on the series' official X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts on September 18, 2024, as the fourth comic to be dedicated towards the series' 15th anniversary.

Official Description[]

it's bomb's time to shine!
in our 3rd angry birds 15th anniversary comic "Mr. Bomb-bastic", bomb
battles his inner demons (and me) trying to overcome the pressure to
succeed.
what if he never gets his boom back??[1]

Plot[]

Bomb lies on the grass, looking up at the sky. A pink egg runs past him. Soon, Red approaches Bomb and asks if he has seen the egg.

A few seconds later, the birds go after it. It turns out that the egg has escaped to the Pigstok. Red suggests that Bomb distract the pigs while he gets the egg. Bomb approaches the Minion Pigs, who surround him and lead him to a box of rockets. Red stands on the stage and yells at Bomb to run, blasting the Minions away with the boombox.

A little later, Matilda tries to help Bomb, who can no longer explode. Matilda advises Bomb to take it easy, but Red says that this is a disaster. Matilda starts arguing with Red about what Bomb should do. Matilda eventually suggests that Bomb calm down and rest a little, to which he agrees, much to Red's displeasure.

A little later, Bomb relaxes in a bathtub with warm water and candles for relaxation, but a moment later, Red throws ice into the water. Then Matilda invites Bomb to try himself in art. He covers himself in paint and throws himself into the canvas with the help of a trampoline. And Red at this time paints a picture that will scare Bomb.

After this incident, Matilda and Red again enter into a discussion, and Bomb begins to feel sad, thinking about changing his name. Suddenly, a watermelon explodes next to him. Bomb begins to eat it, but soon Silver comes up to him, distracting him from this activity.

She asks Bomb where the watermelon landed, and he in turn asks what she is doing. Silver tells him that she is trying to create the best slingshot in all respects. However, so far she has not managed to create one. Bomb says that he understands what it is like.

After hearing Bomb confess that he can't explode, Silver suggests that he go to a punk festival, because, according to her, "they love losers" there. Making his way to the stage, Bomb is inspired by the energetic music and ends up exploding. When Bomb and Silver return, Bomb declares that punk rock is eternal.

At this point, Silver comes up with an idea, and ends up creating a bird pinball from a bunch of slingshots that never became perfect.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being the fourth comic released for the 15th anniversary, its description erroneously calls it the third comic.
  • The title of the comic is a pun on Bomb's name and the song "Boombastic" (also known as "Mr. Boombastic") by Shaggy.
  • The name of the Pigstok venue is a reference to the Woodstock music festival.
  • At one point, Red paints a parody of the poster of The End of Evangelion, with him, Bomb, and a Minion Pig on it.
  • Silver mentions a punk band named "Wart Hogs". There is an actual hardcore punk band called Warthog from New York City.
