- — The World of Angry Birds Official Guide[1]
Piggy Island, also known as Pig Island, is a location that appears in the Angry Birds series. It is a mysterious island somewhere on Earth known for being the home of a flock of round birds known as the Angry Birds and a kingdom of green pigs. This gigantic landmass houses a variety of climates and environments, from lush plains to treacherous mountains. It is the site of an ongoing conflict between the Angry Birds and the pigs over the last remaining eggs on the island.
Description[]
Piggy Island is a secluded, mysterious land on Earth that cannot be found on any map of the world.[2] It features a wide array of environments, including the lush Cobalt Plateaus, the barren Great Cliffs, and the treacherous Crown Mountains. The island is rich in natural resources such as cobalt, bamboo, limestone, fossils, rubber, and rainbow shells.[3][4] Additionally, crates containing various man-made resources frequently wash up on the island's shores.[5] Unique geographical features include the Square Forest, where trees grow with flat ends, and the Slingshot Woods, populated exclusively by Y-shaped trees.[6][7] At the center of Piggy Island stands the massive Hog Head Mountain, a hemisphere-shaped mountain that resembles a pig when viewed from above. The mountain's natural Ear Mines lead to the Pig Mines, a vast network of underground tunnels stretching across the island.[8]
Piggy Island is also neighbored by several other landmarks. Near the west lies the Star Reef, a massive, star-shaped coral reef. Not far from the Crown Mountains is the fiery Volcano Island. At the southern tip of the island, a small opening leads to the Limestone Lagoon, with the Desert Island at its center.[3] Additionally, somewhere in the southern waters, the legendary submerged city of Piglantis is said to stand, though its existence remains unconfirmed.[9]
The island is inhabited by two main groups of round animals: the Angry Birds and the green pigs.[1] The birds, a nomadic and critically endangered flock, are highly sought after by smugglers due to their rarity.[10][11] Meanwhile, the pigs live under the rule of the Piggy kingdom, a regime that claims sovereignty over all of Piggy Island but primarily operates from Pig City, its only settlement.[12] The kingdom has been in conflict with the birds for decades over their eggs. As a result, eggs are extremely rare, making them a coveted resource for both sides. Most of the island is dotted with pig watchtowers to monitor the movements of the Angry Birds and flimsy fortresses for the pigs to keep the flock's eggs whenever they are stolen.[13][14] Due to their haphazard nature, the pigs often engage in reckless activities that pollute the island.[15] One such region, the Golden Fields, has become a wasteland of failed vehicle designs and debris.[16]
