Red 𝕏 (Twitter) Takeover

The main icon for the account during the takeover

Red Twitter Takeover is an event that started on June 9, 2021, and is continuing to this day. The event is mainly just a rebranding of the Angry Birds 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), so fans of the series can interact with the account more to boost the algorithm in Rovio's favor. This also has helped with the announcement of Angry Birds Reloaded, Angry Birds Slingshot Stories Season 2, Bringing back 2012, Angry Birds Next, Angry Birds: Bird Island, Journey, Summer Madness, Minecraft DLC and more.

This would also change as characters such as Terence and The Blues would use this account in 2023 and 2024.[1][2]

According to Red, he did this due to the blandness of the account and how it isn't being utilized accordingly to his standards. (According to the 1st and 14th Tweet he made)

Trivia[]

  • Red seems to have an obsession for Taylor Swift and Eurovision.[5][6] Despite this, he has tweeted "no simp september".
  • On January 10, 2022 Red got into Twitter "drama" with a user called @Clowfoe, which by the end of it one of Clowfoe's friends created a Friday Night Funkin' mod called "SKINNY EGGS - CLOWFOE VS ANGRY BIRDS"[7][8][9]
  • Red forgave Clowfoe for his comments on Twitter, but he has not forgotten about them since then.[10]

  • On April 12, 2022, Red hosted a voting competition called "Red's Angry Bird Inspirational Competition", which determined who the angriest bird breed was. The winner of this competition was the Shoebill,[11][12] likely because of the "The W" meme (which was started by Kracc Bacc).
  • Throughout early May 2022, Red was bombarded with "YoungBoy" troll accounts starting with his Cinco de Mayo tweet.[13][14]
  • Red likes the Minions movie series.[15]
  • On January 26, 2023, Red responded to a tweet made by Cult of the Lamb challenging Duo to fight them at the Creator Clash that same year in April.[16] This has caused many replies between the accounts taking stabs at each other.[17]
  • On April 21, 2023, the @AngryBirds account got its gold checkmark revoked due to Twitter's policy on verified accounts “ran” by pets or fictional characters, but Red insists it was due to his comment on Twitter Blue coating US$8.[18][19]
    • The gold verified check was returned to the account after a few hours with no explanation from Twitter, but Buck (a community manager from Rovio) commented that they did not pay for the verification.[20]
