S.P.A.R.K. is a spaceship that appears in the Solar System episode of Angry Birds Space

SPARK.png

Appearance

It's a metal egg-shaped spacecrafter with a small red  light, red wire and anthenna that have yellow parts around.

Gameplay

It appears in all levels, it appears anywhere and acts as a bomb; if a bird hits it, the light will flash a bit and will then explode, showing the information about the space formation or spacecraft at the bottom right of the screen, the explosion is very effective.

All the information collected can be reviewed after pressing the S.P.A.R.K button, the maximum of facts to collect is 5 for each of the levels.

Tidbits

  • The temperatures on Mercury vary widely, from a deep freeze to searing heat
  • Mercury has wrinkles that are hundreds of kilometers long
  • Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar System and closest to the Sun
  • Like Earth, Mercury has a magnetic field, but Mars and Venus do not
  • There are regions on Mercury that are never heated by the sun

  • Venus is the hottest planet in our Solar System
  • Venus is just slightly smaller than Earth
  • Venus is the brightest planet in the Solar System and is visible in the Daytime sky
  • Venus is covered by clouds and has extremely corrosive acid rain
  • The pressure on Venus is the same as going one kilometer under the ocean

  • Earth is the only place known to have life
  • 70 Percent of the Earth's surface is covered by water
  • Without plate tectonics, Earth would overheat
  • If the Sun were as big as a typical front door, Earth would be the size of a nickel
  • Earth has a powerful magnetic field. It protects us from effects of Solar Winds

  • The first person to walk on the Moon was Neil Armstrong
  • Astronauts might return to the Moon to build a permanent Space Station
  • There is no sound on the Moon because it has no atmosphere
  • The rise and fall of the tides on Earth is caused by the Moon
  • On the moon, a grown man weighs as much as a three year-old child does on Earth

  • Phobos and Deimos, the moons of Mars, are shaped roughly like potatoes
  • On Mars, there is water in ice form underneath its surface
  • On Mars, the Sun appears about half the size as it does on Earth
  • Mars has the biggest mountain in our Solar System called Olympus Mons
  • Currently, Mars' surface cannot support life as we know it

  • The Asteroid Belt contains billions and billions of asteroids
  • Asteroids are small, airless, rocky objects that are too small to be called planets
  • Most asteroids lie in a vast ring between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter
  • Ceres, once thought as just as asteroid, is now considered a dwarf planet
  • All the asteroids combined would form a ball smaller than the moon

  • Gravity on Jupiter is approximately two and a half times the gravity on Earth
  • The Great Red Spot on Jupiter is a huge storm and has been there for almost 350 years
  • A day on Jupiter is only 9 hours an 55 minutes long
  • Jupiter's moon, Ganymede, is larger than mercury
  • Jupiter is the largest and most massive planet in the Solar System

  • There's more water on Europa than there is on Earth
  • Europa is an ice-covered moon that orbits Jupiter
  • One day on Europa is about 3.5 Earth days
  • Europa has an extremely thin oxygen atmosphere - far too thin to breathe
  • Europe is one of the most likely places in our system to find life due to its oceans

  • Saturn's rings are made mostly of chunks of ice
  • Saturn's surface is less dense than water. We could probably swim on it!
  • Saturn is so massive it could hold more than 760 Earths.
  • Saturn has 53 moons and smaller moonlets - all of them frozen
  • Astronomers consider Saturn's moon, Titan, to be a possible harbour of life

  • Uranus rotates horizontally, which means it spins on its side.
  • Uranus was the first planet discovered with the aid of a telescope in 1781
  • Uranus in one of the ice giants and has 27 known moons
  • Uranus makes one trip around the Sun every 84 Earth years
  • Astronomers believe that Uranus' rotation was caused by colliding with a large body

  • Neptune's surface is like jelly. Rather than stand on it, we could sink into it
  • The winds on Neptune are four times stronger than any hurricane detected on Earth
  • Neptune has only been visited once - by Voyager 2 in 1989
  • The coldest place in the Solar System is the surface of Neptune's moon, Triton. Brrr!
  • Neptune was discovered by mathematical predictions rather than observation

  • The tail of a comet always points away from the sun
  • Comets come from two places: The Kuiper Belt and the Oort Cloud
  • We can only see Halley's Comet every 76 years. Try not to miss it next time!
  • As a comet gets close to the sun, it loses mass and eventually breaks up
  • Comet orbits are usually elliptical

  • Pluto is smaller than Earth's moon
  • The gravity field of Pluto's moon Charon affects its orbit - it is a binary system
  • An eleven year old schoolgirl from Oxford, gave Pluto its name
  • Pluto was reclassified from a planet to a dwarf planet in 2006
  • Pluto has an atmosphere when closer to the sun. When farther away, it freezes

  • The International Space Station (ISS): A laboratory, observatory and factory in space
  • The ISS is a space port for possible future missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond
  • The space station spans an area the size of a football field
  • A satellite is an object or body that orbits, or revolves, around another object
  • There have been 180 people aboard the ISS

  • New Horizons will study Pluto and its moons for five months starting in summer 2015
  • New Horizons is 100 times faster than a jetliner
  • Eventually New Horizons will head into the Kuiper Belt to examine icy mini-worlds
  • Going to Pluto is almost equal to 32 trips between the Earth and the Sun
  • New Horizons will use Pluto's gravity to give it a speed boost to the Kuiper Belt
