Soundwave is one of the unlockable characters in Angry Birds Transformers.

Appearance

Soundwave

Soundwave resembles his Generation 1 design, complete with the cassette chest where his minions reside in. His alternate mode, however, is based on his Animated counterpart's SUV alt mode, as well as incorporating elements of his cancelled Bot Shots toy.

Energon Soundwave

He looks the same, except with cyan Energon lights on his body.

Major Soundwave

He now is covered in rust and scratches. His name is derived from the War for Cybertron: Siege I portion of the Transformers Trading Card game.

Neon Soundwave

He now has neon pink lights on his body. His body is also a darker shade of blue.

Personality

Soundwave is a mix of super-loyal second-in-command and devious manipulator. No-one knows if they can trust him! Spoilers: They can't.

Soundwave is always lurking in the background, using his enhanced audio receptors to listen in and spy on all sorts of conversations. He stores all those juicy secrets away, using them at just the right moment to blackmail and cheat. Ooh, sneaky!

As a combination of super-smart manipulator and Piggy Island's top chef, Soundwave has been experimenting with Energon blocks. These powerful but quite explodey lumps of pure energy have been showing up since the EggSpark appeared, and Soundwave hopes to use them in his cunning schemes. Perhaps an army of Energon-overcharged minions? Or a plate of Energon-infused cakes? Hmm... it's not the cake one, is it?

Matching his cunning use of audio, Soundwave's weapon fires 'sonic waves.' They're not super powerful or fast firing, but they spread out as they travel. So if you aim carefully, Soundwave's shots can take out a whole mass of targets in one hit. Make sure you target the center of towers, especially if there are lots of ice or wooden blocks!

Soundwave is the third unlockable character within the game. During gameplay, Soundwave fires one purple sound wave with a wide splash damage. At low levels, the sound wave can only destroy ice blocks and can barely affect wood and stone blocks, but at high levels, it can destroy any blocks in an immensely wide area.

Trivia

• This is the first time Chef Pig is depicted as a playable character as in the other times, he showed up either as a boss or an NPC.
• Neon Soundwave's tie-in Challenge Event featured a major glitch: During the entirety of the event, Neon Soundwave was unintentionally made available for free, though to actually unlock him, all the player has to do is to get any amount of tokens to unlock him.
  • The next day, a Twitter/X user discovered that purchasing Neon Soundwave's Laserbeak accessory (for 1500 tokens) would unlock the Prime Pass for free. This allows players to also unlock Neon Prowl for free.

• Neon Soundwave's color scheme seems to be identical to his Prime counterpart.
• While in many versions show Soundwave being loyal to Megatron. However, in this version (actually only shown in cutscene), Soundwave always trying to harm Megatron such as hitting him with a pan (his own cutsceme) and ruining his "show-off" (Ultimate Megatron's cutscene).
