Spirit of the Woods is the second episode of the Angry Birds on The Run series of the second season. It premiered on June 20, 2020.
Synopsis[]
Hot headed Red and down to earth Matilda (or was it Melinda) commune with nature and come face to face with the spirit of the woods. Probably. Maybe?
Plot[]
The episode begins with a view of the woods from the previous episode. Matilda is shown happily taking in the view, and tells Red that he's missing the calming influence of nature. She is given the impression as Red is looking stressed out, covered in some dry leaves. He shakes the leaves off, but suddenly shushes Matilda, as he swears he hears something... Matilda misinterprets this as Red taking her advice of being down-to-earth, but he tells he'd like to free himself of the forest, and points to a hedge that is shaking. When Red tells that something is watching them, Matilda calmly tells it's probably just "the Spirit of the Woods", but her calmness falters after realizing what Red means. They both watch panicked, until a little squirrel comes out, charming Matilda. The latter tries to speak to the squirrel, by slowly enunciating each and every word. This annoys Red, who tells that squirrels aren't talkers. Suddenly, the squirrel "speaks" to her (understandably malapropisizing her name), referring to itself as Jeffrey, telling he comes from the "planet of Squirrellion", and that the "high council of Squirrels" have chosen her to "represent her kind", and teach her... how to identify the voice of someone so familiar that they're right next to you (yep, it turns out to be Red, providing the squirrel's voice). Mad at him, Matilda calls Red a jerk, pushing him off the branch they are standing on.
