Unicron Pig

Unicron Pig (also called Unipig) is a very large pig who brings chaos with him wherever he goes.

Appearance[]

Unicron Pig is based on the Generation 1 version of the character. He has red eyes, two large horns on each sides of his head, a helmet wrapping around the pig itself, and what seems to be facial hair of sorts. The snout emits a bright yellow glow, which is where he fires the flaming pigs.

Game Appearances[]

Angry Birds Transformers[]

Unicron Pig makes his game debut in the "You've Got the Touch" Challenge Event. Every once in a while, Unicron Pig appears in the far back of the level, with his shield already up. After the player's character moves away from Astrotrain, the battle with Unicron Pig commences. Unicron Pig's main form of attack is shooting out flaming pigs at the player. While these projectiles deal average damage, each projectiles have a massive explosion radius, which are capable of not only harming the player, but can also destroy pigs, blocks, cyberformed sceneries and other miscellaneous destructible objects. Every 12 seconds, Unicron Pig puts down his shield to give the player a chance to harm him. When enough damage is dealt to him, he'll put his shield back up, and the player is forced to wait another 12 seconds. Every time Unicron Pig is damaged enough, the player earns 250 Challenge points. Managing to defeat Unicron Pig causes him to put up his shield in defeat, and the player earns 1,000 points.

However, defeating Unicron Pig comes with a variety of challenges and problems, such as:

  • The environment: While defeating Unicron Pig is important for climbing the leaderboard, the player must also keep track of their environment, such as hostile enemies or level hazards. Monoliths can suddenly fall on the player, and enemies can leave the player with less or few health. Not to mention, certain stages have large indestructible environments that Unicron Pig could potentially hide behind while his shield is down and prevents the player from directly shooting at him.
  • Limited time: The player has a limited amount of time to defeat Unicron Pig before completing a level. The duration of the encounter is dictated by distance rather than time; fast-moving characters (like Bumblebee, for example) tend to have less time to damage him. Using the player's alt mode further decreases the time to defeat him. To make matters worse, active monoliths forces the player to use their alt mode and lose precious time.
  • Limited health: Not only does Unicron Pig's flaming pig projectiles hurt the player, but so does the other enemies in the levels, such as hostile pigs or Mortar Towers. Of course, the player can just respawn with Gems and continue the fight, unless the player has little to no Gems at all.

Here are some tips that can help the player defeat Unicron Pig:

  • The player can pick characters that boast exceptional attack stats, whether it be massive damage output, insta-hit capabilities, high firing rate, requires little to no reloading, never overheats, or even combinations of them. This way the player can overwhelm Unicron Pig with a barrage of attacks, while also taking out any other potential enemies.
  • Try to use alt mode as little as possible. Using alt mode eats valuable time for the player to take out Unicron Pig. If the player is forced to use alt mode, such as avoiding Monoliths, the player must switch back to robot mode as quickly as possible to save time. Alternatively, if the player's character has an EMP Round effect, then the player can aim and fire at active Monoliths, which temporarily stuns them in place, allowing the player to walk under them unharmed.
  • Energonicons can affect Unicron Pig in many ways, which can really turn the tide for the player, though it is mostly down to luck due to his random encounters, as well as the fact that certain Challenge Events exclude the use of Energonicons.
  • Shooting down the rainbow missiles fired from missile silos can temporarily stun him, preventing him from attacking, though his shield still functions.

Here are several recommended Energonicons to use to battle Unicron Pig:

  • Shieldor is undeniably the most ideal Energonicon to bring when fighting Unicron Pig. When activated, Shieldor can block all kinds of damages, including hostile projectiles, missiles, falling Monoliths and of course, Unicron Pig's pig projectiles.
  • Electroblast's EMP blasts can temporarily stop Unicron Pig in his place.
  • Reflectron can reflect Unicron Pig's pig projectiles back at him, which can take a small chunk of his health. The only trade off is that the player must get hit for it to work.
  • Powerbot, when activated, can amplify the player's attacks, letting them damage the boss pig a lot quicker.
  • Healthpack can restore the player's health when activated, which is useful when trying to stay alive while fighting Unicron Pig.

Trivia[]

  • The way Unicron Pig looms over the level during Challenge Events may have taken inspiration from his Generation 1 counterpart, where he appears as a giant disembodied head after his body was destroyed during the climax of The Transformers: The Movie, which later orbited Cybertron.
  • In his render paint over sheet, Unicron Pig is referred to as "Omicron".
