Wood is one of the materials that the pigs use for their structures. Wood appears in the Angry Birds series, and is stronger than Glass, but weaker than Stone.
Description[]
Overall, wood appears as a material that is brownish/orangeish in color, though it can also appear in many other colors because of painting. Wooden blocks appear in many different sizes and forms.
Tips[]
- Hal, Bubbles, and Chuck are exceptionally good against wood, but square blocks usually stop their tracks.
- While Terence and Bomb are strong birds, they are not as effective against wood, though Bomb’s explosion can hurl wood around.
- It is not a great idea for the player to use weak birds like The Blues, Red and Stella against wood, unless they want to knock over the structure. Stella can use her bubbles to pick up and drop wood, which usually destroys it.
Game appearances[]
Angry Birds (game)[]
In the original Angry Birds, and its Chinese version, wood is one of the three main types of materials in the game, alongside glass and stone. In this game, it is dark orange in color, and can be featured in many different shapes. However, Birdday Party has wood with pink spots, and Bird Island features it with lime ones. Also, Piggy Farm and Jurassic Pork have wood totally painted with different colors to fit the buildings, such as white, red or green.
In gameplay, wood is a weak material that it is first featured in the first level of Poached Eggs, or the first level of Tutorial in the newest versions. However, it resists the hits of the weakest birds, such as the Blues, Stella, Red, and sometimes Bomb while it can be destroyed easily with Chuck, Hal, Terence, or by falling from high heights. As they receive more and more damage, wooden items will show ruptures on them. In the "Material Mix Up!" mode of Golden King Pig, wood can also be swapped with another material, most commonly stone.
Angry Birds Seasons[]
In Angry Birds Seasons, and its Chinese version, wood is one of the three main types of materials, alongside glass and stone. It has the exact same appearance as in the first Angry Birds; however, many different variations and re-colors of it appear as well. In Go Green, Get Lucky, there are wooden blocks with a brown four-leaf clover symbol on them, while Year of the Dragon and all the episodes following Ham Dunk have it painted in different colors, most commonly red.
In gameplay, wood is first featured in the first level of Trick or Treat, or the first level of Hammier Things in the newest versions of the international version, and also appears in every other episode in the game. Just like in the original Angry Birds, wood is a weak material that can be destroyed with ease by Chuck, Hal, or Terence.
Angry Birds Rio[]
In Angry Birds Rio, wood is, once again, one of the main three materials, alongside glass and stone. It is first featured in the first level of Smugglers' Den, or the first level of Playground in the newest versions of the game. It is much more common in Jungle Escape, with some of its levels having wood as the only material. In the "Rio" segment, it has the same appearance as in the original Angry Birds, though the "Rio 2" levels have it with a different appearance to match the designs from Angry Birds Toons. As with previous games, wood is a weak material that can be destroyed more easily by Chuck, Hal and Terence. A darker, more fragile version of wood also appears in High Dive, Blossom River, Hidden Harbor, and Treasure Hunt. This type of item appears as planks that are for support.
Angry Birds Friends[]
In Angry Birds Friends, wood is one of the main materials, alongside glass and stone.
Angry Birds Space[]
In Angry Birds Space, wood returns as one of the three main materials featured in the levels, alongside glass and stone. As with past games, it is a weak material which can be destroyed easily through falls and explosions, as well as by Lazer Bird, Space Bomb and The Incredible Terence. In addition, it can be turned into ice by Ice Bird's blasts, where it is much more fragile. Wood is first featured in the first level of Pig Bang, and appears in almost every other level in the game.
Bad Piggies[]
In Bad Piggies, wood appears as one of the two types of materials used in items such as frames, alongside metal. It is very fragile and can be separated from other parts easily, unless the player uses the Super Glue power-up on their vehicle. To compensate this, however, it is lighter then metal and can be carried with more ease by balloons.
Angry Birds Star Wars series[]
Angry Birds Star Wars[]
In Angry Birds Star Wars, wood is one of the three main types of materials, alongside glass and metal. In this game, most of its pieces are given a different appearance, such as a lighter color, a new, more futuristic design, and small support metallic lines inside of them, which are shown as they get more damage. In addition, there are new types of wooden blocks, such as smaller wheels and tiny, square-shaped pieces. In gameplay, wood is a weak material, which can be easily destroyed by falls, explosions, laser shots, and lightsabers. It is first featured in the first level of Tatooine, and appears in every other episode of the game.
Angry Birds Star Wars II[]
In Angry Birds Star Wars II, wood is, once again, one of the three types of materials, alongside glass and metal. In this game, it is given a new design. During the events of the game, wood was used by the Bird Side and the Pork Side to build basic structures that could shelter their soldiers.
In gameplay, wood is first featured in the first levels of both versions of Naboo Invasion. As with past games, it is a weak type of material that can be destroyed by explosions and falls, as well as laser shots and lightsabers. In addition, by touching lava or hot coal in the Pork Side versions of Revenge of the Pork and Master Your Destiny, or by being exposed to Chopper's thrusters, wood can be burned, and can also spread the fire to other flammable materials, such as ropes and other wooden blocks. Enemies entering in contact with these pieces will die instantly. After some time, these pieces of wood will disappear. Wood can also be turned into ice by Carbonite Han Solo, where it will be much more fragile and lighter.
Angry Birds Go![]
In Angry Birds Go!, wood appears as an obstacle during the "VS. Race" and "Time Bomb" courses. They also appear as items the Blues can throw at the player during the races against them. In this game, wood has two appearances: the dark orange type from earlier games, and as beige blocks with brown lines. When a vehicle hits one piece of wood, it will slow down and receive some damage. However, wooden blocks can also be destroyed by most characters' Special Powers, allowing them to pass through them with no problem.
Angry Birds Stella[]
In Angry Birds Stella, wood is one of the main three materials, alongside glass and stone. In this game, it has a different design, taking the appearance of peach-colored blocks. In gameplay, it is first featured in the first level of Branch Out, and appears in almost every other level in the game. Wood is a weak material, and can be destroyed easily through explosions, falls, and most characters' abilities.
Angry Birds Transformers[]
In Angry Birds Transformers, wood returns as a type of material, alongside glass, stone and gold. It appears in every battle of the game. In gameplay, it is a weak material, and can be destroyed by explosions, falls, and shots from either the playable characters or the enemies. Destroying pieces of wood will grant the player some coins.
Angry Birds POP![]
In Angry Birds POP!, wood is a type of obstacle that is featured in most levels. In this game, these items can either be small circle-shaped, making them occupy one slot, or have the shape of a thick plank, which makes them occupy various slots. Shooting a bubble to a wooden item will damage it at the cost of popping the bubble at the same time. To destroy a wooden item, the player has to shoot two bubbles to it, though they can also use power-ups to destroy it instantly.
Angry Birds 2[]
In Angry Birds 2, wood returns as one of the main three types of materials, alongside glass and stone. It is featured in every level in the game. It can resist hits from the Blues, though it can be destroyed easily with any other character, as well as explosions and falls. The characters that are the most effective against wood are Chuck, Terence and Hal. In addition, when popping the Scientist Pig, there is a chance that all items in the zone will turn into wood, regardless of what material they are made of. Destroying wood will grant the player some points, the amount of which will depend on the Bird Power of the character that destroyed it.
Angry Birds Action![]
In Angry Birds Action, wood is featured as one of the main three types of materials, alongside glass and stone. It is a common material featured in most levels. In this game, it has the appearance of a cylindrical, beige-colored obstacle. In gameplay, wood can be either a simple obstacle, or an item enemies might be standing on to defend themselves from the player. To destroy a piece of wood, the player has to hit it twice, though this might vary depending on the bird they are using, their stats, and powerups.
Angry Birds Blast![]
In Angry Birds Blast!, wood is a type of obstacle that is featured in some levels. To destroy it, the player has to pop balloons next to it twice.
Angry Birds Evolution[]
In Angry Birds Evolution, wood is featured as one of the main three types of materials, alongside glass and stone. It is a common material featured in most levels. In this game, it has the appearance of a cylindrical, beige-colored obstacle. In gameplay, wood can be either a simple obstacle, or an item enemies might be standing on to defend themselves from the player. To destroy a piece of wood, the player has to hit it twice, though this might vary depending on the bird they are using, their stats and their level.
Angry Birds Match[]
In Angry Birds Match, wood returns as an obstacle commonly featured in levels. Similar to its appearance in Angry Birds Action!, it can be used by pigs to stand onto them and protect themselves from the player. As with Angry Birds Blast!, the player has to match items next to it twice to destroy it.
Angry Birds: Isle of Pigs[]
In Angry Birds: Isle of Pigs, wood returns as one of the three main types of materials, alongside glass and stone. As with past games, it is a weak type of item that can be destroyed easily through falls and explosions. It can also be destroyed easily by Chuck. It makes its first appearance in the first level of Sandy Beach, and appears in most levels since then.
Angry Birds Reloaded[]
In Angry Birds Reloaded, wood returns once again as one of the three main types of materials featured in the game, alongside glass and stone. Similar to the past games, it is a weak type of material that can be destroyed with no problem through falls and explosions. Some characters, such as Chuck and Terence, can break through it easily as well. First featured in the first level of Hot Pursuit, it made appearances in most of the levels in the game.
Bad Piggies 2[]
In Bad Piggies 2, wood is expected to make an appearance.
Appearances in other media[]
Piggy Tales[]
In various episodes of Piggy Tales, the wood items from Bad Piggies make appearances.
Angry Birds Slingshot Stories[]
In Angry Birds Slingshot Stories, wood appears in most episodes, with the same features as in the earliest Angry Birds games.
